This Hurt Me So Much John
8:12-59 (KJV)
As I re-read this passage
again as I had for years I felt so much mental anguish and physical pain I had
to lay down until I recovered enough to write this. My thought to read it again
was, “Who could say such things about Jesus and themselves?” He came to save
them. Are they liars? Did they want to see the wrath of Jesus? Did they just want
to anger Jesus?
I must have overlooked it
before, but I read today that Jesus was confronted by some religious Jewish
leaders, the Pharisees. Here is what they said about my Lord and Savior:
1)
13 Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is
not true.
2)
19 Where is thy Father?
3)
22 Will he kill himself?
4)
25 Who art thou?
5)
27 They understood not that he spake to them of the
Father.
6)
30 As he spake these words, many believed on him.
7)
33 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and
were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?
8)
39 Abraham is our father.
9)
41 We be not born of fornication; we have one
Father, even God.
10) 48
Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?
11) 52 Now we know that thou hast a devil.
Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he
shall never taste of death.
12) 53 Art thou greater than our
father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou
thyself?
13) 57 Thou art not yet fifty years
old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
14) 59 Then took they up stones to
cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through
the midst of them, and so passed by.
You
have to read the verbal exchange between Jesus and the Pharisees to feel the
full impact. The more Jesus tried to explain to them the angrier the Pharisees
became. It was not for them to understand and they could not for Jesus spoke
only in parables. You have to be Spiritual to understand parables, born again.
They even blasphemed the Holy Spirit by saying Jesus had a devil which is the
unpardonable sin.
